Monthly Recap : July 2015

Image
Hello everyone! I hope everyone had a lovely July! I can't believe how quickly time has flown this month. It's like my summer started just a few weeks ago and I already have to get ready to head back to college. It's too bittersweet to even think about my summer being over again. *sighs* Anyways, my month wasn't very exciting. All I did was get caught up on sleeping and I read a lot, which is always exciting. Plus, I'm really proud of myself for reading a ton of non-ARC books. I think about 75% of what I read in June were non-ARCs. I got hooked onto Elle Kennedy's Killer Instinct series and basically binge-read all the books. Now, I'm dying for the next one which doesn't come out until 2016. I also read a few other series including The Beautiful and the Dispossessed and the Midnight Thief duology. I think this upcoming month I'll read the Unearthly series. I want to tackle another series, but I'm not sure which one just yet. I was also able to re

Sword fighting, swearing, and riding astride come naturally to Saidh Buchanan. Simpering and holding her tongue—definitely not. Raised alongside seven boisterous brothers, Saidh has little interest in saddling herself with a husband... until she glimpses the new Laird MacDonnell bathing naked in the loch. Though she's far from a proper lady, the brawny Highlander makes Saidh feel every inch a woman. She has an angel's looks, a warrior's temper, and seeks out his kisses with wanton eagerness. Little wonder that Greer is intrigued by his comely guest. When reckless desire overtakes them, he's more than willing to make an ho

Review : No Kissing Allowed by Melissa West

Summary (from Goodreads)   Title : No Kissing Allowed Author : Melissa West Publication Date :  July 28th 2015 Publisher : Entangled Embrace Goodreads - Amazon - Barnes & Noble No kissing. No touching. And definitely no falling in love... Armed with her besties, an embarrassing number of shots, and her list of 10 Wild Things To Do Before Adulthood, recent grad Cameron Lawson is partying it up before she starts her dream job at New York's biggest ad agency. Her last task? Hook up with a random guy. And while it's so not her style, the super-sexy guy sitting next to her is definitely game. No names. No details. At least, that was the plan. On her first day of work, Cameron discovers her hook-up is none other than Aidan Truitt—her new boss's boss. Talk about failing the “no fraternizing with coworkers” policy on an epic level. Especially when Aidan makes it clear their one night was only the beginning. Falling for him could cost her everything, but sometimes

Nick's Random Gibberish is a weekly post here at Nick's Book Blog where I, Nick, will talk about random topics from personal posts to discussion posts. Hi everyone! Today I wanted to talk a little bit about the topic of book shaming . It's a topic that enrages me when I see it or experience it, so I thought it would be a good idea to highlight the various ways that book shaming occurs. To begin, book shaming is basically shaming someone for the books that they read or for simply reading . I personally have experienced this in two ways which I'm going to discuss in this post.   I think the most obvious book shaming occurs in the form of people thinking that it's weird when you're an adult reading YA books. When I got into YA myself, I was a teenager, so I didn't completely understand how frustrating it is for someone to make snarky comments such as ," You read YA? Aren't you a little too old for that? Aren't those books really juvenile

Nick's Random Gibberish (25) : Burn, Rewrite or Reread Tag

Image
Nick's Random Gibberish is a weekly post here at Nick's Book Blog where I, Nick, will talk about random topics from personal posts to discussion posts. Hi everyone! Today I'm going to be doing the Burn, Rewrite or Reread Tag . Thanks to Danielle at Love at First Page for tagging me to do this. Image Source - Image Source - Image Source The gist of this tag is to use a random number generator to pick 3 books from your bookshelf and then decide which ones you're going to burn, rewrite or reread tag, which actually isn't as easy as it sounds because really, who ever wants to burn a book?! Because I wanted to torture myself, I decided to do to in 3 rounds. In the 1st round, I selected books from my "read" shelf on GR. In the 2nd round, I selected books from my "June 2015 read" shelf and for the last round from my "2015 favorites" shelf. Anyways, here we go! First Round (From My "Read" Shelf) Burn: Forget You by Jen
