Image
Stacking The Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews. Book Haul What A Boy Wants by Nyrae Dawn A Breath Of Eyre by Eve Marie Mont Anna Dressed In Blood by Kendare Blake For Darkness Shows The Stars by Diana Peterfreund Graceling by Kristin Cashore Point Of Retreat by Colleen Hoover Hi guys ! This week has been fairly great in terms of books. I bought some stuff that I hadn't read before, but I've heard great things of. My blog bestie, Barbara at Basia's Bookshelf loved What A Boy Wants, so I knew I had to have it. I bought A Breath Of Eyre because I love Jane Eyre. It's one of my all time favorite books, so I kind of want to see what the author has in store for me! :) Anna Dressed In Blood has been on my wish-list for some time now because everyone I know loved it. I thought it was about time I got a copy for myself. I loved loved loved Slammed, so I couldn't wait to get the sequel Point Of Retreat! I really hope these books end up being epic!

Review : From What I Remember by Stacy Kramer & Valerie Thomas

Summary (from Goodreads) KYLIE: Tijuana WHAT? I should be putting the finishing touches on my valedictorian speech. Graduation is TODAY, and is this a wedding band on my finger. MAX: It all started with Kylie's laptop and a truck full of stolen electronics. Okay, it was kind of hot, the way she broke us out like some chick in an action movie. But now we're stranded in Tijuana. With less than twenty-four hours before graduation. Awesome. WILL: Saving Kylie Flores from herself is kind of a full-time occupation. Luckily, I, Will Bixby, was born for the job. And when I found out she was stuck in Mexico with dreamy Max Langston, sure, I agreed to bring their passports across the border -- but there's no reason to rush back home right away. This party is just getting started. LILY: I just walked in on my boyfriend, Max Langston, canoodling with Kylie Flores, freak of the century. Still, I can't completely hold it against him. He NEEDS me. It's even clearer n

Review : Something Like Normal by Trish Doller

Image
Summary (from Goodreads) When Travis returns home from a stint in Afghanistan, his parents are splitting up, his brother’s stolen his girlfriend and his car, and he’s haunted by nightmares of his best friend’s death.  It’s not until Travis runs into Harper, a girl he’s had a rocky relationship with since middle school, that life actually starts looking up.  And as he and Harper see more of each other, he begins to pick his way through the minefield of family problems and post-traumatic stress to the possibility of a life that might resemble normal again. Travis’s dry sense of humor, and incredible sense of honor, make him an irresistible and eminently lovable hero. Personal Thoughts This book wasn't really on my radar since I thought it would be some kind of fluffy romance, but when Cait from Basia's Bookshelf highly praised it, I knew this would be my kind of book. Something Like Normal isn't your typical YA contemporary book. Behind the "more of a love stor

Review : A Girl Named Digit by Annabel Monaghan

Summary (from Goodreads) Farrah “Digit” Higgins may be going to MIT in the fall, but this L.A. high school genius has left her geek self behind in another school district so she can blend in with the popular crowd at Santa Monica High and actually enjoy her senior year. But when Farrah, the daughter of a UCLA math professor, unknowingly cracks a terrorist group’s number sequence, her laid-back senior year gets a lot more interesting. Soon she is personally investigating the case, on the run from terrorists, and faking her own kidnapping—all while trying to convince a young, hot FBI agent to take her seriously. So much for blending in... Personal Thoughts  A Girl Named Digit was one of my "Waiting On Wednesday" a few weeks ago. What initially attracted me to read the book was the cutesy cover and the interesting premise. Going into the book, I was expecting a light summery read and that's exactly what I got ! Farrah a.k.a Digit, is a Math prodigy. She is so obses

Summary (from Goodreads) What if you were mankind’s last chance at survival? Sixteen-year-old Tess lives in a compound in what was once the Western United States, now decimated after a devastating fourth World War. But long before that, life as we knew it had been irrevocably changed, as women mysteriously lost the ability to bring forth life. Faced with the extinction of the human race, the government began the Council of Creators, meant to search out alternative methods of creating life. The resulting artificial human beings, or Chosen Ones, were extraordinarily beautiful, unbelievably strong, and unabashedly deadly. Life is bleak, but uncomplicated for Tess as she follows the rigid rules of her dystopian society, until the day she begins work at Templeton, the training facility for newly created Chosen Ones. There, she meets James, a Chosen One whose odd love of music and reading rivals only her own. The attraction between the two is immediate in its intensity—and over

Waiting On Wednesday (23) : Blaze (or Love in the Time of Supervillains) by Laurie Boyle Crompton

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Jill at   Breaking the Spine to show the  upcoming titles that we're mostly eager for. Blaze (or Love In The Time Of Supervillains) Publication Date : February 1st 2013 Publisher : Sourcebooks Fire Summary (from Goodreads) When comic-obsessed Blaze stands up to her evil ex he posts a racy picture of her online and a battle of epic proportions ensues. Before she knows it, Zap! Thwack! Pow! Blaze becomes the target of intense bullying. She must learn to channel her inner-superhero if she hopes to gain the ultimate victory; rescuing herself. This book sounds like so much fun and at the same time it deals with a crucial and dangerous issue of bullying. The main character seems very much kick-butt since she actually faces her problems using her comic book knowledge! I also love the cover. The girl has PINK hair for God's sake. How can you not like it ? :P Oh and the title is kind of EPIC. What do you guys think of t

Review : Rape Girl by Alina Klein

Image
Summary (from Goodreads) Valerie always wanted to be the smart girl. The pretty girl. The popular girl. But not the rape girl. That’s who she is now. Rape Girl. Because everyone seems to think they know the truth about what happened with Adam that day, and they don’t think Valerie’s telling it. Before, she had a best friend, a crush, and a close-knit family. After, she has a court case, a support group, and a house full of strangers. The real truth is, nothing will ever be the same. Rape Girl is the compelling story of a survivor who does the right thing and suffers for it. It is also the story of a young woman’s struggle to find the strength to fight back. Personal Thoughts When I requested Rape Girl by Alina Klein from NetGalley, I was expecting an intense and deep story that would shock me. It ended up disappointing me a little since I was looking for so much more out of the book. Valerie, the main character, decides to hold a party at her house when her mom is away one nigh
