When twenty-one-year-old Leah Carter's latest one night stand burglarizes her apartment, her roommate forces her to attend therapy for sex addicts. Leah insists she isn't a sex addict; she just doesn't do relationships. After all, sooner or later, everyone lets you down.

At first, the group sessions are little more than an education on how to be promiscuous. Until she meets the newest addict—blue eyes, killer body, and a smile that tempts relapse.

Psychology student Will McLean is posing as a fellow addict while researching a case study on unusual addictions. But the more he learns about Leah, the more certain he is that his desire to break through her walls and unearth her secrets has nothing to do with his assignment.

As the uncertainties spike alongside the sexual tension, the only thing Leah knows for sure is that falling in love would be disastrous. Too bad love might be one addiction she can't kick.

Personal Thoughts

Colina Brennan's Addicted To You was an interesting read. In my venture to look for original and new themes in New Adult, I came across this book which deals with sex addiction and therapy. This isn't a topic that has been touched in NA books, as far as I know, so I was intrigued by it.

Leah didn't do relationships. She was the girl who had one-night stands and wanted no attachments. When one of Leah's one night stand burglarizes her and her roommate's home, her roommate forces her to acknowledge and her sexual addiction and to attend therapy. Leah was an emotionally broken character. Despite being provided everything by her parents, she didn't have the one thing that she has always wanted from them : love. Because of that, she was bitter and refused to let anyone into her life. While I wouldn't say I connected with Leah, I thought she was a wonderful one. I grew to really care for her as the book progressed and wanted her to be happy. I loved how much she cared for her baby brother and her love for him was the highlight of the book for me. She was also a strong girl who knew how to stand up for herself and her little brother. When Will entered her life, he turned it upside down and she began to have feelings for him that were foreign to her. Will was a charming and loveable Scottish psychology student who pretended to be a sex addict for research purposes for his boss. He was a really nice guy and I thought it was refreshing from the usual bad boy that seems to be the main theme in NA books. I did wish we got to know a bit more about him, but that didn't mean I didn't enjoy his character.

What I loved about Addicted To You was the romance. I loved how Leah and Will both tried to fight this attraction that they had for their own reasons, but how they eventually couldn't resist and had to give in. This was a relationship that developed in a realistic way, so it was easy to connect with it. There was undoubtedly an instant attraction between Leah and Will, but that didn't bother me because instant attraction is something that happens in real life. I loved the development of their relationship from an attraction to something deeper. Leah and Will were great for each other and I could tell from the chemistry they had between them. The one problem I had with Addicted To You was connecting with the story on an emotional level. The book was written in the third person POV, which is not a favorite of mine. I find it hard to immerse myself completely in the story, but I admit that that's because it's a personal distaste I have for third person writing. Otherwise though, Colina Brennan promises to be a great author and I'm looking forward to reading more from her.

Addicted To You was an enjoyable and entertaining New Adult read with a romantic relationship that was very well-written. If you are a fan of the genre or adult contemporary novels, I don't hesitate to recommend this lovely book at all.
