Blog Tour Stop : Everlast by Andria Buchanan

The Everlast Blog Tour is hosted by Rockstar Book Tours.

Hi guys!

Welcome to my tour stop for the Everlast Blog Tour hosted by Rockstar Book Tours. In this book, the character enters a fairy tales book. So, as part of the blog tour, I asked the author to share with us all some of her favorite fairy tales and she came up with some very interesting ones. I hope you enjoy the guest post and be sure to check out the other tour stops here.

Summary (from Goodreads)

Title : Everlast (The Chronicles of Nerisette #1)
Author : Andria Buchanan
Publication Date : September 1st 2013
Publisher : Entangled Teen
Goodreads - Amazon - Barnes & Noble

Allie Munroe has only ever wanted to belong, maybe even be well liked. But even though she’s nice and smart and has a couple of friends, she’s still pretty much the invisible girl at school. So when the chance to work with her friends and some of the popular kids on an English project comes up, Allie jumps at the chance to be noticed. And her plan would have worked out just fine…if they hadn’t been sucked into a magical realm through a dusty old book of fairy tales in the middle of the library. Now, Allie and her classmates are stuck in Nerissette, a world where karma rules and your social status is determined by what you deserve. Which makes a misfit like Allie the Crown Princess, and her archrival the scullery maid. And the only way out is for Allie to rally and lead the people of Nerissette against the evil forces that threaten their very existence.

My Top Five Favorite Fairytales

A list of all the cracked out stories you’ve probably forgotten. With all new, dysfunctional morals and words of wisdom for you to live by:

1.) Vasilia the Beautiful—One name should matter here. Baba Yaga. The world’s most underrated villain. A witch who controls the deities of night and day and has a house that grows chicken  legs and runs away whenever she’s in danger. Forget poor little Vasilia and the stepfamily that abuses her—the witch has a house that runs around on chicken legs. That’s enough to catapult this story from just good to downright awesome. Moral: If you practice your magic diligently enough and are willing to sell your soul to evil, you too can have a house that travels with you and think how convenient that would be.

2.) The Emperor’s New Clothes—I like any story where someone smart manages to stick it to someone who should know better and this is the ultimate stick it to the man story. Think about it, the tailor managed to convince the emperor to walk around naked and everyone else had to keep up the lie or lose their heads. Meanwhile the only person brave enough to say something was the one guy who had nothing to lose. Moral: The people you pay to be your friend will always tell you what you want to hear. Meanwhile the people who have nothing to lose by telling you the truth will do so.

(Personally I think we should force all those kid stars to listen to this story on repeat until they can’t stand it anymore. Maybe then the lesson would sink in.)

3.) Hansel and Gretel—hello a witch with a house made of candy? No wonder those kids went into the forest and violently murdered a poor old woman with delusions. A house made of candy is just like a big sign begging violent juvenile delinquents to come along.  Moral: If you’ve got a house made out of candy expect for troublemaking little brats to come rob you and throw you in an oven.

4.) Bluebeard—Is there any story heroine who comes out looking more awesome than the wife of Bluebeard? She finds out her husband likes to slaughter his wives so she arranges to have him murdered and then makes off with his money. The moral here: Always marry a man who’s dumber than you are. Especially if you’re marrying rich mass murderers.

5.) The Boy Who Cried Wolf—my favorite version of this story is the original one. I use it all the time as a warning to my kids. “Don’t be like the boy who cried wolf. He was a bad boy who lied to his mother and look what happened to him. He got eaten.”  Moral: If you lie to your mother you’ll be ripped apart and eaten by wolves.

Author Biography

Patricia's a small town girl who was blessed with a large tree in the  backyard that was a perfect spot for reading on summer days. Mixed with  too much imagination it made her a bratty child but fated her to become  a storyteller. After a stint of “thinking practically” in her twenties  she earned degrees in Business and Economics and worked for a software  firm in southwestern Germany but, her passion has always been a good  book. She currently lives in Pittsburgh with her two wonderful kids and a husband  that learned the gourmet art of frozen pizzas to give her more time to  write. When she's not writing she can be found fencing and arguing with  her dogs about plot points. Most days the Beagle wins but the Dalmatian  is in close second. She's in a distant third.  Patricia writes adult Paranormal under the name Patricia Eimer and  writes Young Adult books under the name Andria Buchanan.
