Review : Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins

Summary (from Goodreads)

Three years ago, Sophie Mercer discovered that she was a witch. It's gotten her into a few scrapes. Her non-gifted mother has been as supportive as possible, consulting Sophie's estranged father--an elusive European warlock--only when necessary. But when Sophie attracts too much human attention for a prom-night spell gone horribly wrong, it's her dad who decides her punishment: exile to Hex Hall, an isolated reform school for wayward Prodigium, a.k.a. witches, faeries, and shapeshifters.

By the end of her first day among fellow freak-teens, Sophie has quite a scorecard: three powerful enemies who look like supermodels, a futile crush on a gorgeous warlock, a creepy tagalong ghost, and a new roommate who happens to be the most hated person and only vampire student on campus. Worse, Sophie soon learns that a mysterious predator has been attacking students, and her only friend is the number-one suspect.
As a series of blood-curdling mysteries starts to converge, Sophie prepares for the biggest threat of all: an ancient secret society determined to destroy all Prodigium, especially her.
Personal Thoughts
Hex Hall is the kind of book that you can't stop reading once you start. This book was so freaking amazing. It was pretty much near perfection for me.

Rachel Hawkings is now among the best YA writers today. First off, Sophie Mercer is one kick-ass heroine. She is funny, witty and sarcastic. I love the fact that she stands up for herself and forms her opinions by herself. She does not judge others on the basis of rumours.

I have to say Sophie is not at all like other female characters usually depicted in YA paranormal books. She is definitely not pathetic. In fact, she's very easy to connect with and I could not wait to see what she would be doing next.

Archer Cross is Sophie's love interest. And well I fell in love with his character from the first scene he appeared in the book.  He is as awesome as Sophie.
Sophie's and Archer's romance grows and they are not all lovey-dovey in the book. They exchange sarcastic comments and are constantly teasing each other. They had great chemistry together and I was anticipating their scenes throughout the entire book.

The plot is as interesting as the characters. The mystery, romance, friendship and the different twists mixed together produced an amazing story. Hats Off to Rachel Hawkins !

Rachel Hawkins has a way with words which makes this book very engaging. She makes you want to read more and more. I truly did not want this book to end.

Overall, this book fun with a killer ending that left me wanting to grab the second book. I must say I was not at all waiting for the twists at the end. Rachel Hawkins, you rock !

I recommend this book to fans of YA paranormal romance. I assure you, you won't be disappointed.
