Catherine has spent her life being the perfect princess. She’s kept her hands clean, her head down, and most importantly—men at arm’s length. After all, most men are after only one thing, and for Cathy there’s a lot more at stake than her bed; she has to worry about the fate of an entire nation. But at the rate she’s going, Cathy is afraid she’ll give the Virgin Queen a run for her money. She is tired of waiting for someone good enough to come along. She has a plan, and it all hinges on seducing the one man who seems utterly unimpressed by all things royal. The one man she is tempted by more than any other . . .

When David arrives at the royal wedding of his friend, the newly ordained Duchess Samantha Rousseau, he expected to feel uncomfortable and out of his element, but he wasn’t prepared to be targeted by Prince Alex’s gorgeous younger sister. With Cathy’s giant blue eyes, killer figure, and sense of humor, it won’t take long before he gives in. But when he finds out just how innocent the crown princess really is, will he play the part of knight in shining armor or the dashing rogue?

Personal Thoughts

You know how sometimes you just crave a mindless read just so you can be in a good mood? That's what I was feeling like when I grabbed Recklessly Royal. I enjoyed the first novel of the series and wanted to know more about one of my favorite secondary characters from the first book.

Cathy was a genuinely sweet, loyal and dedicated character from the very start, despite being a royal. She has never let her popularity get to her head and I liked how she was so involved in her charities. She had goals and while she faced obstacles, she worked hard to achieve them. Overall, I really enjoyed Cathy as a main character. Her love interest, David, on the other hand, I feel like we didn't get to know much. Quite frankly, he might have been lurking around in the book, but I never felt like I got to know him on a deeper level. I was quite glad to meet Alex and Sam from the previous book, although only briefly.

I read this book for the romance, but unfortunately felt like it was lacking. Cathy and David have great chemistry together for sure, but I simply wanted more. The story-line with the crazy assistant was also not my cup of tea and I honestly could have done without it. I did however enjoy Cathy's relationships with her older brother and her old assistant.

Overall, this was a cute and light read, but book 1 still remains my favorite of the series.
