Personal Thoughts

I had heard a lot of positive things about Angeline Kace's writing from blogger friends of mine prior to reading Wicked Thing. When I saw that she was releasing a New Adult book, I thought it was the perfect book for me to start to get to know if her writing would suit me as well. I ended up really enjoying this book despite it sounding similar to the multiple NA books there are out there.

Carmyn wasn't the most likeable main character at first. She was the kind of girl who had life goals and had already planned to marry her boyfriend even though she was still in college. I never really connect with girls like that. When her boyfriend cheats on her, her attitude changes and I began to like her more. I was glad that she didn't spend too much time complaining and whining about her cheating ex and instead focusing her attention on actually living her life. Dallas was also a likeable main character. He was sweet, caring and quite charming. I might have liked him a bit more than I liked Camryn, but that always happens when a book has dual POV. Of course, this book wouldn't be a NA read without Carmyn and Dallas having their set of issues, but I thought the issues they had were not overly dramatic and actually quite realistic because they are things that are seen very often in real life.

The secondary characters were also an interesting bunch in Wicked Thing. I especially enjoyed Carmyn's friend, Ava's role in the book. She was supportive and she pushed Carmyn to do things she wouldn't have done before and encouraged her to move on from her ex. I always love a friend who sticks with the main character despite everything and Ava was exactly that kind of friend. The romance between Carmyn and Dallas was at the same time sweet and sexy. They had intense chemistry together and some of their scenes had me fanning myself. However, I did wish that the ending was a bit rushed and I wanted a more resolved one. While Wicked Thing wasn't exactly unique in the NA genre, I did enjoy the author's writing and I think I'm going to be giving her YA books, which come highly recommended from friends, a shot.

In the end, I enjoyed Wicked Thing and thought it was an interesting and entertaining NA book with a great cast of characters and a sweet romance. I definitely recommend it if you're a fan of the genre.
