The sheriff’s son, Kellan Turner, is not the golden boy everyone thinks he is, and Romy Grey knows that for a fact. Because no one wants to believe a girl from the wrong side of town, the truth about him has cost her everything—friends, family, and her community. Branded a liar and bullied relentlessly by a group of kids she used to hang out with, Romy’s only refuge is the diner where she works outside of town. No one knows her name or her past there; she can finally be anonymous. But when a girl with ties to both Romy and Kellan goes missing after a party, and news of him assaulting another girl in a town close by gets out, Romy must decide whether she wants to fight or carry the burden of knowing more girls could get hurt if she doesn’t speak up. Nobody believed her the first time—and they certainly won’t now — but the cost of her silence might be more than she can bear.

With a shocking conclusion and writing that will absolutely knock you out, All the Rage examines the shame and silence inflicted upon young women after an act of sexual violence, forcing us to ask ourselves: In a culture that refuses to protect its young girls, how can they survive?

Hi guys!

Welcome to my tour stop for the All the Rage tour. I'm excited to have Courtney Summers over for an interview as part of the tour. I haven't had a chance to read this book yet, mostly because I don't know if I'm emotionally prepared yet, but I've been hearing nothing but amazing things about the book. I've seen some stunning praise from some of my friends.

Author Interview

Hi Courtney! I'm pleased to have you on the blog today and I'm very excited for the release of All The Rage.
First question, All The Rage tackles some very hard and gritty themes that I think needs to be tackled with delicacy, thoughtfulness but also harshness. I imagine you had to do some research to write the book. Were there any moments while writing the book that you found yourself being emotionally overwhelmed?
Rape culture is a difficult topic to write about, and the research involved was often heartbreaking and infuriating. The victim blaming, the lack of justice available to victims and survivors, the apathy some people have about both--was often very emotionally overwhelming. Most of all though, it made me angry and I channeled that anger into writing the book.

How difficult/easy was it to get inside Romy's head for you?

It wasn’t easy. Romy is such an emotionally reserved character—she hasn’t come to terms with her trauma and she’s suffering from post-traumatic stress. I had to carefully consider how she would process what was happening around her. Sometimes that was harder to do than others.

Books like All The Rage are important for multiple reasons. Why do you think we need more books like yours?

Books about rape culture keep the discussion about rape culture going. Silence perpetuates rape culture. We need to keep talking about this if we want anything to change.

Thank you for taking your time with the answers, Courtney. Good luck with the release of All the Rage!

Thank you so much and thank you for having me on your blog!
