Nick's Random Gibberish (14) : The Right Way to Blog? What Right Way to Blog?

Nick's Random Gibberish is a weekly post here at Nick's Book Blog where I, Nick, will talk about random topics from personal posts to discussion posts.

Hi booknerds!

I hope you all had a wonderful week! I have finals this week after which I'll get spring break (a.k.a when I devour all the books!). I'm here to talk today about something that honestly bugs in me in the blogging community. This post was inspired by a conversation I had with Nereyda a long time ago (honestly, I think she inspires all my posts here!!). The whole "the right way to blog".

Please excuse my french, but I call complete bullshit on that. I've seen these posts on multiple websites and every time I've come across them, it's made me kinda furious. You know what posts I'm talking about. The ones that discuss how you should create the perfect blog to attract ALL the viewers or the blog that actually suits the writers of these posts. I'm telling you, there is NO right way to blog. There is no such thing.

If you like posting 1000 book blitzzes or like having funky colors on your blog or wanting to only review books and not have a variety of posts, just do it. Do whatever makes you HAPPY. Blogging should not be about pleasing other people. It should be able pleasing yourself. It should be about expressing your love for books and if that for you is posting only book promo posts or anything else that is considered kind of negative in the community, just do it. (Be like Loki and do whatever the heck you want!)

I think we let ourselves forget that the reason we started blogging in the first place is to share the excitement over books. It's a hobby, so you should be able to do anything you want as long as it's ethically, morally and legally right of course. As for those people who are always whining about book blitzzes and blogs with only reviews, there are hundreds and hundreds of blogs out there that will most likely cater to more of your likes. Don't put people down for doing what they enjoy doing. That's not very nice at all. Be happy and let others be happy!

What are your thoughts on all the "right way to blog" posts? Are you as annoyed by them as I am? Or do you feel the opposite? Please feel free to share all your thoughts in the comments below!
