Author : Nicole Williams
Publication Date : February 24th 2015
Publisher : Self-Published
Goodreads - Amazon - Barnes & Noble

If we didn’t know darkness, we couldn’t fully appreciate the light.

Garth Black’s more familiar with this concept than most people are. He hadn’t just lived in the dark for the majority of his life—he thrived in it. With a mom who’d bailed on him and a dad whose understanding of coddling started and ended with a bottle of whiskey, Garth had never been expected to rise to any sort of occasion other than following down the same dead-end paths.

That changed when he fell in love with Josie Gibson. After years of pulling each other closer before shoving the other way, they finally stopped shoving. Josie’s love is like nothing Garth’s ever experienced. He holds it close. He holds it sacred. He would do anything to preserve it and keep it from pollution, even if that means removing himself from the picture.

Garth might have been allowed a temporary furlough to bask in the light, but that pass has been revoked, and he’s been swallowed again by the dark. Will he revert to his old ways of hurting those he cares for most? Will he go back to the same destructive patterns . . . or will it be worse this time?

We can’t know light without first knowing dark . . . and Garth Black’s about to get acquainted with the dark in a whole new way.

Personal Thoughts

Garth Black is my ultimate book boyfriend. I despised him in Lost and Found and fell hard core in love with him in Finders Keepers. Although I was completely satisfied with the way Finders Keepers ended, part of me was excited to see that Nicole Williams had decided to write more in Garth and Josie's story. Was Losers Weepers entirely what I expected? No. But do I regret reading it? Absolutely not.

I think for me, the one reason I wasn't head over heels in love with this book as I was with the rest of the series is actually Garth. Listen, I love this boy and my heart broke for him in this book, but man, was he bull-headed. He got these stupid ideas about how his condition would hinder his relationship with Josie and ultimately pushed her away. I seriously wanted to bash his head against a wall so that I could get rid of his dumb ideas. He did pretty idiotic things to try to push Josie away and it was disheartening to me. Yet, I didn't hate Garth for his actions because I knew where he was coming from. I think my frustrations towards Garth was mostly because he was creating one obstacle after the other towards his happy ending and I wanted nothing more than for him to have that happy ending that he clearly deserved more than anyone else. Thankfully, Josie was the absolute perfect heroine in Losers Weepers! This girl was a star and I already loved her in the previous books, but this time around my love for her multiplied by a 100 fold. Josie saw through Garth's bullshit and repeatedly tried to show him how wrong he was. She fought for their relationship and never once gave up. I loved how bold and feisty she was and how she did not bow down to Garth's crazy demands. She stood by the man that she loved and continued to shower him with affection. This book only convinced me further that Josie is the perfect girl for Garth.

Despite the obstacles that Garth put up in their relationship, there were still some genuinely heart-melting moments between Garth and Josie. Garth can be super swoony when he wants to be and he showed that in this book. The one other complaint I had when it comes to Losers Weepers has to be the lack of a proper sex scene. Yeah, I know. You guys probably think I'm crazy, but ever since the previous book, I've been whining about wanting a sex scene between Garth and Josie and I was hoping we would get one in this, so I was once again disappointed when there wasn't a proper one. What I did like was seeing glimpses of Jesse and Rowan. I loved how they stuck through with Garth too and how supportive they were of him even though they had their own issues to work through. I have to admit that I wasn't pleased to find out that they were getting another book, but now that I've thought it through, I don't think I have much an issue with it. I'm actually looking forward to it.

Losers Weepers was a bit of a rough ride of a book, but I'm honestly glad I gave it a shot because these characters hold a special place in my heart. If you guys haven't read this series and are fans of NA books, you should definitely check it out. It's got sexy cowboys, lovely heroines and romances that will make you swoon for days.
