"I don't want a divorce."

Personal Thoughts

Bursting with a multitude of colors, the cute covers of Harlequin's new adult contemporary romance line, KISS, were what first attracted me to the new titles on NetGalley. Wanting to read something light and fluffy, I went into Waking Up Married expecting to be highly entertained. And entertained I was!

Megan wakes up in the bed of a man she met the night before with absolutely no recollection of how she got there. Even worse, she gets the shock of her life when Connor tells her that they are husband and wife. Megan immediately asks for a divorce, but Connor has no interest whatsoever of divorcing his new bride.

The focal point of Waking Up Married for me was the interaction between Megan and Connor. They were an absolutely hilarious couple. I adored Megan and Connor! Megan was this independent young woman who wasn't afraid to voice out her opinions. I personally thought she was very likeable. She was the kind of goal-oriented woman who would do anything to achieve her objectives. Connor viewed everything as a business deal. Cocky and flirtatious, he charmed the pants off me. They were both very headstrong, stubborn and refused to let the other win, so what ensured was lots of fun and witty dialogues between them! Their banter was the kind that had me bursting into laughter in public. (Piece of advice : Do not under any circumstances read this book in public! You will only embarrass yourself!) I wish we could have seen a lot more of the secondary characters though, especially Connor's friend Jeff. He seemed like an even funnier character from the text messages he sent his friend! Plot wise, Waking Up Married didn't have much going on except for the two characters trying best not to fall in love. Although, it was very very cheesy and predictable, as expected, I had a fab time reading this book.

Waking Up Married was a cute contemporary romance book that will have you choking of laughter. Although it's ending is foreseeable, it's definitely an enjoyable read perfect if you're looking for something fluffy and cute on a nice summer day outside.
